About Me

Welcome to "Our Sweet and Simple Life"! My name is Emily and my hope is that you'll join me as I find the excitement and joy in everyday life. I'm a youth minister's wife on a budget, so I will be sharing my favorite DIY crafts, new recipes, and the crazy adventures of marriage, ministry, and life!

A little bit more about me...

I was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in little town outside of Baltimore, Maryland. I attended college in Virginia, met the man of my dreams, and moved to Trinity, Florida to marry him and start our lives together! So, here we are. I married my sweet husband, Matt, in January 2013. It's been a whirlwind of a year, between moving to a new state, planning our perfect wedding (and it seriously couldn't have been more perfect), to sharing daily life with my best friend.

Here's a picture from our wedding--did I mention that we had the PERFECT day?

As I said, I'm a youth minister's wife. I love serving alongside my husband as we teach students about the Lord. I teach a small group of Freshman (almost Sophomore!) girls, and I love them to pieces. It is such a blessing to be able to share what God is teaching me with these girls as they go through such a crazy time of life--high school.

Aside from that, I'm a puppy owner. In March, Matt and I decided we were ready to start our family. So, we brought home Biscuits. I may be biased, but I think he is literally the cutest puppy to ever live. Be warned--I'm probably going to blog about him a lot. He is 90% good dog, 10% monster (my husband may disagree, especially when he has to take Biscuits potty at 4 a.m.). It's been an adventure with this little pup, between housebreaking, teething, and making us laugh a lot.

Here is--our little nugget.

I'm also a student. A confused student, really. I'm taking classes online through Liberty University (where Matt and I attended residentially), but if you ask me what I plan to do after school--oh boy. I have no idea! I'm studying business management, but I'm just praying that the Lord will guide me once I graduate next year.

And...I'm a barista. I work at Starbucks--my love for Passion tea has sort of turned into an...addiction. But I love it!

Most of all, I'm a follower of Christ. My prayer is that this blog becomes an outlet for me to share the joys and struggles in my walk with the Lord, and that you may be able to relate, grow, and share along with me!
